ABOUT
A little journey back in time...
O’LES TERRASSES DU LAC, is first and foremost the story of a building that is symbolic of the Nyon landscape. Built in 1820, it housed the Hotel Odelet, a preferred relay station - especially among the timber-haulers of the Jura.
Shaded at the time by two large chestnut trees, the terrace overlooking the lake already offered exceptional panoramic views over the lake. Guests enjoyed stays at the water’s edge, toes in the water and eyes on the Alps.
In 1904, during the second phase of the waterfront’s construction, the building’s direct access to the water was cut off. In 2011, anxious to reconnect with its unique and ideal combination and keen to reconnect with its lacustrine heritage and proximity, the owners embarked on renovating the enterprise, going on to build three terraces at different levels, with each one offering a certain and exceptional view of Lake Geneva.
Since then, the building’s architecture has also conjured up visions of travel. Opening up onto the lake, its façade - to the delight of Nyon residents and transient visitors - is reminiscent of a ferry sailing to new horizons.
